Election Law
As grassroots supporters of Tulsi Gabbard, we need to be informed about election laws so that we follow the rules.
It is my (James Roguski) opinion that election laws are structured in a way that dramatically hinders grassroots efforts while supporting the influence of big money in politics. Despite that opinion, and despite my desire to reform the existing laws, the LAST thing that any of us want to do is run afoul of the existing election laws.
Everyone should be aware that the maximum contribution during the primary election cycle is $2,800. If you SPEND money in support of a candidate, that counts as an "in-kind" contribution and must be counted towards the $2,800 limit.
"An expenditure made by any person or entity in cooperation, consultation or concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate’s campaign is also considered an in-kind contribution to the candidate."
"The value of an in-kind contribution—the usual and normal charge—counts against the contribution limit as a gift of money does."

If you plan to work together as a group, please realize that you must create a political action committee BEFORE spending over $1,000.

There is a very valid debate as to what exactly is included in the following phrase: "in cooperation, consultation or concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate’s campaign"
The only advice I give is to make sure that you take the time to understand the laws and follow the FEC guidelines.
